If Michigan is the Water Wonderland then Northern Michigan is the "epic center".  There are so many options once you gain the freedom of Stand-up Paddle.  Explore the sandy crystal clear waters of Lake Michigan or one of the inland spring fed lakes or rivers. The lake bottom is always changing creating sand bars, exposing rock shoals, sunken forests and shipwrecks. I will get you up and paddling. In no time you will be exploring the jewels of Northern Michigan that are truly one of a kind. Paddle some glassy flats, catch a downwinder or be lucky enough to get some summer surf.

You have heard about it, seen it in the media and now its your turn to give it a try.  This introduction to SUPing will get you up and paddling in no time.  Depending on wind direction I will choose a leeward point or harbor to provide you with a calm place to learn the basics.  I will discuss basic water safety, basic paddle strokes and safe route selection.  Have your first experience with SUP be a positive one.

Route: Sunset Paddle Tour

Ride Time: 2 hours
Difficulty: Beginner
Type: Inland Lakes or Bays

The perfect way to enjoy a sunset is on the water, in the middle of the lake. When the summer is hot and the air is heavy there is no place that I would rather be.  The sounds of civilization disappear and water laps at your board putting you into a zen-like state. Spend the rest of evening laughing and  sharing tales around a bonfire bringing in the night.

This trip is a real treat, because it is completely weather dependent. I will lead you into the Manitou Passage to discover shipwrecks, sandy bays, rock shoals and boulders the sizes of Volkswagens.  I will also porter swim goggles so we can anchor and see up close and personal these sunken treasures.  I will bring duneside snacks and drinks to keep energy levels topped off. Join me for this one-of-a-kind experience.
